Granada is a place where history comes alive. The main jewel of the city is the Alhambra, a palace complex of Moorish rulers built in the 13th century. This is the only surviving Moorish palace complex in Europe.

Alhambra

This palace complex is one of the most visited in the world. You will see the Nasrid Palaces with their exquisite carvings and mosaics, the Generalife gardens with fountains and cypresses, and the Alcazaba fortress with panoramic views of the city.

Tip: buy tickets in advance, as the number of visitors per day is limited.

Albaicín

The oldest quarter of Granada with narrow streets, white houses and the best view of the Alhambra. Here you can get lost in the labyrinth of streets and find cozy taverns with national cuisine.

What to try

Try the local wine and tapas, which in Granada are served free with every drink. Don't miss the almond cookies and Arabic sweets either.
